McWong’s Smart Outdoor Control Platform Recognized in IES 2019 Progress Report

Aug 12, 2019

SACRAMENTO, Calif. August 12, 2019—McWong, a leading lighting and controls solutions provider, has received notification from the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Progress Committee that the company’s Bluetooth®-enabled Smart Outdoor Control Platform was accepted into the 2019 Progress Report.

The Smart Outdoor Control Platform, also a recipient of Edison Report’s Top Ten Must See for 2019, offers robust control capabilities through a range of devices, including microwave and passive infrared motion sensors and fixture controllers with single- and dual-channel control capabilities for light level and color tuning. Daylight-responsive control is possible via integrated photocell in the sensors and fixture controllers. The platform features Bluetooth 5 compatibility for robust networking and communication capabilities combined with Bluetooth qualification for all devices for enhanced interoperability. In addition, the devices are compatible with the industry-standard low voltage socket, for simplified future upgrades in the field, faster installation and broader customer choice. This is particularly important for outdoor lighting systems, where the lifecycle of installed fixtures may approach 20 years. The emphasis on interoperability ensures that the platform will be compatible with future fixture selections or expansions of the control system itself.

“We’re delighted the Committee has acknowledged our continued innovation,” notes Blane Goettle, Vice President of McWong. “the Smart Outdoor Lighting Control platform extends our Bluetooth mesh control solutions to both indoor and outdoor lighting applications, and with Bluetooth connectivity, creates a single platform for simultaneous and coordinated control of indoor and outdoor lighting, without requiring complicated interfaces with building automation systems or other legacy communication protocols.”

Progress Report acceptance is based on an impartial judging process used by the Committee to evaluate each submission on its uniqueness, innovation and significance to the lighting industry. The Committee presented this year’s Progress Report at the IES Annual Conference August 8-10, 2019 in Louisville KY.
