The Awards, announced March 11, 2019, will be awarded May 20, 2019 on the eve of Lightfair in Philadelphia.
Wong founded McWong International, Inc. in 1984. Recognizing a need for diverse sourcing of high-quality lighting electrical components, Wong was instrumental in building a global team to meet the marketplace supply chain needs. Leveraging her business and finance background, Wong led the company to sustained profitability while continuously evolving to anticipate market trends. This has culminated in the company developing a leadership position in wireless control solutions while transitioning from conventional legacy technologies and revenue sources. She also leveraged her extensive network in China and experience in doing business with China to create one of the west coast's most successful innovation, trade and manufacturing companies in the electrical and IoT-enabled lighting products industry.
Wong has worked to promote better business and cultural understanding between the U.S. and China since immigrating to the U.S. She serves on the Board of Directors of California Chamber of Commerce, California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce and the Themed Entertainment Association's – Asia Board. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the U.S. Department of Commerce MBDA (Minority Business Development Administration) Entrepreneur of Year 2018 Award, the U.S. Presidential E Award for her efforts to expand international trade, and multiple SBA International Business Awards over the years.
