SACRAMENTO, Calif. and GUELPH, Ontario Canada, January 14, 2020—McWong International, a leading innovator in Bluetooth® mesh technology, recently participated in a lighting and controls upgrade project with Wellington Motors, located in Guelph, Ontario. Teaming with project partners Wellington Motors and Nexstar Lighting Limited, McWong provided a proprietary Bluetooth mesh control network for the dealership’s outdoor lighting in a streamlined project that spanned only 30 days from start to finish.
Located in Guelph, Ontario, Wellington Motors has served the Guelph & tri-city (Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge) area since 1940, offering Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Fiat vehicles as well as automotive service and collision repair. The Guelph location encompasses about 4 acres with parking areas encircling the central building, illuminated by a total of 34 fixtures. For the lighting and controls upgrade, the project team selected 14 300W area lights for the front parking areas and 150W area lights for the remaining parking areas. The control network consists of 16 McWong Bluetooth-enabled PIR motion sensors and 16 power packs utilizing proprietary Casambi software. “[W]e ultimately chose this approach because we did not need a control gateway or costly commissioning,” notes Bob McKellar, President of Nexstar Lighting, the company that designed the lighting and control upgrade.The facility utilizes different control scenarios throughout the nighttime hours and facility management is able to access the system at any time from their smartphone app.
