Sacramento, Calif. December 12, 2024—mwConnect, a leading innovator in Bluetooth® mesh technology, is pleased to announce that its Founder and President, Margaret Wong, was elected Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations (HKBA) Worldwide on December 4, 2024, after the vote held during the Hong Kong Forum organized by the HK Trade Development Council.
The HKBA was established in November 2000 with the support of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council which comprises 48 overseas Hong Kong business associations spanning 37 countries and regions, with nearly 11,000 members. These members are local business elites and are considered Hong Kong’s closest allies and partners in global markets.
Margaret Wong was nominated by and representing the U.S. as a candidate by the HK Associations of 12 U.S. chapters and participated in the final election held in Hong Kong on Wednesday. Following two intense rounds of anonymous voting by representatives from 37 countries, she was elected to secure the Chairmanship of HKBA for a three-year term.
Born in Hong Kong, Margaret graduated from the University of Hong Kong before establishing mwConnect (formerly McWong International) in the U.S. In addition to her business leadership, she has dedicated over 40 years to serving U.S./China trade and has received numerous accolades in various sectors, including environmental protection, energy, and food.
“This is an extraordinary honor, and I cherish this incredible opportunity to continue to strengthen the influence and effectiveness of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide,” said Margaret immediately following the announcement of her election as the new Chairman.
Notably, Margaret has made outstanding contributions to fostering cultural exchange and promoting friendly cooperation between China and the U.S. over several decades. Following her election victory, Margaret expressed her commitment to continuing the legacy of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide. She emphasized leveraging the federation’s significant influence to empower the younger generation, elevate Hong Kong’s global trade position, and write a new chapter in its success story.
